二十世纪福克斯公司于1935年成立，由福克斯电影公司与20世纪影片公司合并而成。旗下有《埃及艳后》、《音乐之声》、《星球大战》、《阿凡达》等多部耳熟能详的电影。风风雨雨几十年，到2019年的时候，福克斯的电影及电视资产被迪士尼以713亿美元收购。
当时，迪士尼宣布收购的为21世纪福克斯公司的电影制作业务，里面包括20世纪福克斯、福克斯探照灯影业、福克斯动画等等。21世纪福克斯公司与20世纪福克斯是完全不同的概念，21世纪的成立于2013年，为20世纪福克斯的母公司，除了电影方面还包括了新闻广播等产业。

许多人会担忧福克斯影视被收购后其现有IP该何去何从。两家的制作理念有比较大的出入，很难取得一个好的平衡。迪士尼有权利直接将不符合其价值观的影片拿掉——那些没有潜力成为系列的电影、没法阖家观看的电影。而已经是摇钱树的IP自然会保留下来，如死侍系列。同时令人期待的X战警系列由于回归漫威宇宙，未来也充满了不确定性。
很难说福克斯留下的这些影片被迪士尼接手后发展会怎样。无论前期规划的多么好，最后观众的感受才是最重要的。利益为上，已经成名的产品迪士尼应该不会改动核心理念。但那些尚在襁褓中的概念估计会死一大片，小众化、更大胆而又高水准的影片可能会越来越少。但市场决定一切，大多数的发言权永远胜过小部分。
